Ferris State ACCA Participates In Its First "Heat The Country" ACCA Event

"Heat the Country" is a annual nationwide ACCA event where chapters volunteer to service or replace heating systems for elderly, disadvantaged and low income households. In the Fall of 2006, several Ferris ACCA student chapter members volunteered to help at the "Heat the Country" event organized by ACCA West Michigan in Grand Rapids. Phil Forner, 2007-2008 national chairman for ACCA and owner of Allendale Heating, supervised the service checks and filter replacements. One furnace was condemned and later replaced by Allendale Heating with a furnace donation from Johnstone Supply.

The event was a great learning experience. The student chapter has volunteered to help at next years ACCA West Michigan event. The student chapter will also try to organize a "Heat the Country" event in our own community next Fall.
